Job Description
The Army Community Service (ACS) Centers provide a wide variety of support services to Army Servicemembers and their Family members to support their needs as they transition through career assignment/relocation, deployment, family events (e.g. birth or adoption), or family crisis. Services include pre-arrival and re-entry orientation to Soldiers coming back from long-term overseas deployments to Family member abuse intervention, marriage enhancement, and parenting support.
The various components of the ACS Family Advocacy Program (FAP) support couples and Families through an intensive and comprehensive combination of services throughout the family cycle. They incorporate interventions which may include role modeling, mentoring, parenting education, support groups, individual and couples' intervention, and information and referral to other military and civilian resources. These services contribute to mission readiness, support family adaptation to military life and are designed to enhance the knowledge and skills Families need to form healthy relationships and provide safe, nurturing environments for children.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform administrative tasks to support the Lending Closet and relocation readiness IAW Army regulations.
Issue and receive Lending Closet items and properly document the transactions IAW required procedures such as through the issuance of hand receipts.
Perform follow-up actions for the return of delinquent items and provide updates to the Relocation Readiness Program Manager.
Perform 100% inventory each quarter and submit an inventory report to the Relocation Readiness Program Manager.
Provide relocation readiness support both inbound and outbound transferees with primary focus on pre-departure and relocation planning.
Conduct outreach and support awareness events, family recreational events, community events, school fairs, and hiring fairs by performing tasks such as planning, marketing, briefings, and running information tables/booths.
Plan and facilitate Command and Troop Education for Soldiers on the dynamics of spouse and child abuse, reporting, prevention, and resources.
Coordinate and provide Unit training and shall cover, at a minimum, the following topics: dynamics of spouse and child abuse; command policy; community programs, services, resources; the identification, reporting, and referral process; and utilization of the crisis hotline for assistance.
Coordinate and provide FAP Leadership training for all levels of command from junior to senior. Cover the dynamics of abuse and strategies to assist Soldiers and their Families in the prevention of spouse and child abuse. Provide a presentation of available community programs, services, resources and referral process.
Coordinate and provide Junior Leadership training to equip Platoon, Squad, and Section level leaders with knowledge and skills to address the effective management of Military Family challenges.
Provide a variety of ACS interactive training, educational courses delivered in-person and/or virtually to include workplace training, safety, education, parenting education, and family life skills. Support educational programs in the following areas: The AFTB, the Relocation Readiness Program, the ERP, the EFMP, and the FAP.
Conduct information tables, assist with ACS overviews, and develop course materials.
Periodically update curriculums as policies, statistics, and other relevant details change to ensure the most current information is provided.
Schedule training/courses, coordinate facilities for training/courses, prepare instructional materials, set-up classroom location, and clean-up after training/courses. Distribute customer-satisfaction surveys at the conclusion of training courses and workshops and summarize results.
Provide professional training on the reporting and prevention of spouse and child abuse to personnel who are required to report abuse, such as CYSS, medical, law enforcement, legal, and community agencies.
Provide Domestic Violence Awareness training to the Civilian workforce to provide an overview of the dynamics of domestic violence and how it affects the workplace. Provide training each month and schedule additional training times if requested.
Conduct family life skills training workshops. Current topics include conflict resolution strategies, relationship enrichment, and preparing for marriage.
Provide FAP education/trainings to promote safety and the prevention of abuse. Current safety courses cover topics such as the prevention of dating violence, internet safety, and bullying. Current abuse prevention courses cover topics such as anger and stress management.
Coordinate and lead parenting support groups, workshops, and educational courses. Examples of current FAP parenting programs include the Single Parent Network support group, the interactive Boot Camp for New & Expectant Dads workshop, and the Shaken Baby Syndrome Prevention Education course.
Provide relocation readiness support IAW AR 608-1 to both inbound and outbound transferees with primary focus on pre-departure and relocation planning.
Provide briefings, orientations, trainings, and workshops to prepare Soldiers and their Family members for Permanent Change of Station (PCS) transitions to Fort Bliss and to other duty stations to include OCONUS installations. Track attendance and ensure records are updated in the database of record NLT two workdays after session.
Provide comprehensive relocation services in English and Spanish throughout the transfer process to support Families separated from their Military sponsor due to duty requirements and assist bi- cultural military Families in keeping with the guidance described in AR 608-1 and through trainings such as English as a Second Language.
Perform marketing tasks, as needed, to support the Relocation Readiness Program. Such marketing tasks include updating social media accounts and websites as needed and preparing/distributing newcomer orientation/welcome packets.
Administer a Government provided post-service survey to all participants and encourage feedback after each training event, briefing, or workshop. Prepare a summary of results to include how many surveys were distributed, how many completed surveys were received, the average rating for the month, and any notable comments/feedback.
Other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience Qualifications:
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, marriage, family, and child counseling, counseling or behavioral science, education, community health or public health.
Minimum of two (2) years' experience in domestic abuse or family violence.
Required Qualifications:
Fluent in English and Spanish and able to develop course material in both languages.
Working knowledge of Family violence dynamics, safety planning, risk assessments, local community
resources, and federal and state laws pertaining to domestic abuse, Family law and the Victim Rights
Bill.
Working knowledge of Military protocol when addressing Officers, Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs) and Government personnel.
Ability to effectively interface and communicate with Civilian and Military personnel at all levels.
Ability to demonstrate an understanding, sensitivity, and empathy for victims.
Ability to work effectively with individuals and Families from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Ability to conduct briefings to small and large groups of civilians, Soldiers, and commanders.
Ability to work cooperatively with military and civilian medical, social service, law enforcement, and legal personnel on behalf of victims.
Ability to maintain a valid, unrestricted motor vehicle license and proof of automobile insurance.
Access to a personal vehicle for travel.
Ability to perform all contractual duties, which may include transporting, lifting, and setting up displays; and standing and walking during activities that involve domestic abuse prevention and response.
Computer literacy and including the basic computer skills necessary to enable them to prepare briefing
slides and program documentation, enter data in required management reports and utilize information
systems to prepare required reports and information
Ability to assess and measure client concerns/needs, assist in identifying and prioritizing goals, and provide guidance and direction for the development and implementation of effective plans and tools to address such issues.

Federal background check required with favorable results
U.S. citizenship required
Proficient in Microsoft Office, including word processing, spreadsheets, and graphics programs, to include PowerPoint, Microsoft Windows, and Microsoft Outlook.
Work Hours
Monday - Friday (0800-1700). May require work during weekends and after normal business hours.
Travel
Must be able to travel as needed and adhere to company travel policies and procedures.
